Some winemakers chase technique. The Toffolis chase something harder to pin down: a feel for the land, an ear for what the hills are saying. It's the kind of knowing that can't be taught — only handed down.

And handed down it has been, across three generations, ever since grandfather Vincenzo started out in the 1950s. Every bottle wears the family name like a coat of arms, and the shelves full of awards suggest the instinct is still sharp. A wine, after all, only speaks to those who know its soil.
