A tour by Yellowboot, a family-run tour operator from Conegliano and a Prosecconow partner: you book on their website.

If you leave from Venice, or land at Venice or Treviso airport, and head for Cortina, Cadore or San Martino di Castrozza, you pass a few kilometres from the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. Most people have no idea they are there.

Stopping here is not a detour: visit a winery, have lunch at a hillside osteria, walk among the vineyards and pick up bottles for your ski week. Or stay one night and head up to the mountains the next day.

On the map: the hills are halfway

From Venice and Treviso, both routes to the Dolomites pass through the Prosecco Hills: the stop is halfway.

On the A27, towards Cortina and Cadore: Conegliano and the Feletto hills

The A27 motorway, which climbs from Venice towards Belluno, Cadore and Cortina, passes Conegliano, where the appellation begins. Take the Conegliano or Vittorio Veneto exit and the hills are right there.

Worth seeing: the old town and castle of Conegliano, the Romanesque parish church of San Pietro di Feletto, the Molinetto della Croda mill at Refrontolo.

Along the Piave, towards Feltre and San Martino di Castrozza: Valdobbiadene and Cartizze

Heading up the Piave valley towards Feltre, Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza, you pass at the foot of Valdobbiadene: just cross the Piave at Vidor.

Worth seeing: the Cartizze hill between San Pietro di Barbozza and Santo Stefano, the centre of Valdobbiadene and the panoramic roads through the Rive vineyards.

Half a day or one night

Half a day is enough for a winery visit, lunch at an osteria and a walk among the vineyards or through an old town. Prosecconow's Oste, after suggesting the winery, also tells you where to eat nearby.

For one night, the handiest towns are Valdobbiadene, Follina, Cison di Valmarino, Pieve di Soligo and Conegliano: close to the hills and on the way to the mountains.

If you are the driver

Whoever is driving can join the winery visit without tasting: just ask the winery when you book. The bottles you buy at the winery are for opening in the chalet.
